Shifting Gears: From Free-Wheeling Beta to Premium Pedalling

To all Gear Grinders and Pedal Pushers,

Taking the Training Wheels Off 🚴‍♀️

First, massive high-fives to everyone who joined our beta program!
For the past year, you've been patient and vocal while we tightened our bolts and aligned our derailleurs. Your help is essential to our journey —even that salty Reddit thread. We learned a lot.

Now, we take the training wheels off :)

Time to Clip In

Just as eventually you have to stop drafting your buddies and take your turn at the front, we're transitioning from our free beta to a paid subscription model.

👉 Starting today, geer costs €3.99 /month -or- €39.99 /year.

💎 For the next 60 days starting today, you can subscribe with 50% discount and keep that discount forever, as long as you don’t cancel your subscription.

Now that’s a draft ;)

Your Free-Ride Extension 🎟️

Don't worry – we're not leaving you stranded on a mountain pass with a flat tire and no spare tube. You'll have 30 more days to enjoy the app for free, starting from your first post-beta login.

(Trial and discounts should be automatically applied. If that doesn’t happen, email us at support@geer.bike)

Why We're Shifting Gears

We’re to build a useful app for real cyclists. We want to make geer better, faster, smarter. We want to eradicate creaking hubs from the face of the earth.
A paid model is our way of committing to:

  • Staying independent:
We want to keep the chain lubed without relying on sketchy corporate manoeuvres. Yes, we could make the app ad-supported instead. But that would mean selling your data and attention to corporations —making you our product. And that would be sketchier than the cobble section of Paris–Roubaix.
  • Building features that matter:
We want to listen to you and build features for you and your bike. We opt not to spend time developing things to sell you more stuff you don’t need. Nor a “how many bananas do I need to bring on a ride” calculator.
  • Being user-funded:
A bike has two wheels: cyclists and geer. Keeping it bilateral (instead of adding third-party advertisers) keeps your interests safe. We keep things transparent. We will charge money.

What's Down the Road 🛣️

Your support will fuel our development like carbo-gel and coffee. We've got a route of features that will make your bike more adored than Marco Pantani. Keep riding and we’ll take care of the rest.

Happy trails and tailwinds,
The Team at Geer

P.S. If you don't subscribe, that’s 7 years of creaking hub. Good luck finding a group ride.
